St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team is set to battle eighth-ranked St. Thomas this weekend in a crucial Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) series. The two teams are currently tied for the league lead with 24 points apiece as Gustavus enters the weekend with a record of 14-5-2 overall and 12-2-0 in the MIAC, while St. Thomas comes in with a record of 14-4-3 overall and 11-1-2 in league play. The Gusties and Tommies will square off in St. Peter on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., before traveling to Mendota Heights for a 2:00 p.m., opening face off on Saturday afternoon.
Gustavus enters the series coming off a sweep of St. Catherine last weekend. The Gusties shut out the Wildcats 3-0 on Friday in St. Peter before traveling to St. Paul on Saturday afternoon on their way to a 3-1 win. St. Thomas comes in following a split with Bethel a week ago. The Tommies fell to the Royals 5-3 on Friday night in Blaine, but were able to salvage the split on Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 win in Mendota Heights.
