Allison Eder-Zdechlik Named Female Student-Athlete Of The Month For November

St. Peter, Minn. – Through the opening month of the 2013-14 women’s hockey season, sophomore forward Allison Eder-Zdechlik (Stillwater, Minn.) has emerged as Gustavus’s go-to goal-scorer with an MIAC-best seven goals to go along with three assists for a team-high 10 points.  Because of her outstanding play, Eder-Zdechlik has been named the Gustavus Female Athlete-of-the-Month for November.

The Gustavus women’s hockey team went 5-1-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the MIAC over the month of the November.  The only blemishes on Gustavus’s record came in a series with then No. 9 ranked UW-Superior in a battle between two of the top 10 teams in the country .  The Gusties lost 2-1 to the Yellowjackets on Friday Nov. 8, then skated to a 2-2 tie on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Centering Gustavus’s second line for the majority of the month, Eder-Zdechlik scored in five of seven games and averaged five shots per game throughout November.  She recorded three multiple-point games and scored three points off two goals and an assist twice against Saint Mary’s (Nov. 2) and Concordia (Nov. 15).

Eder-Zdechlik did most of her damage on special teams where she tallied three power play goals and added two assists for an MIAC-leading five points on the player-advantage.  The Stillwater, Minn. native is currently the second-ranked scorer in the MIAC, while also ranking sixth in NCAA Division III in goals.

After being off over Thanksgiving weekend, the Gustavus women’s hockey team is back on the ice this weekend when it heads back into MIAC play with a home/home series against St. Olaf College.  The Gusties will host St. Olaf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 before traveling to Northfield to square off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.
