Men’s Golf Alumni Featured In Golf Digest

St. Peter, Minn. – Three former Gustavus Adolphus College men’s golfers were recognized in Golf Digest’s recent article entitled The Best Teachers in America.  Alums Craig Waryan `71, Luke Benoit `04, and Dick Walters `75 were listed as three of the top 14 golf instructors in the state of Minnesota.  A voting panel of 1,200 leading golf instructors nationwide chose the new 50 Best Teachers as well as a state-by-state ranking that recognizes 492 instructors.

“To be honest, I knew nothing about the list before the article was published,” laughed head Gustavus golf coach Scott Moe.  “But knowing all three of them  very well and having the opportunity to coach Luke, it certainly doesn’t surprise me that they are amongst the best in Minnesota.  Craig, Dick, and Luke are great instructors who will continue to make outstanding contributions to the sport.  They are also great advocates for Gustavus golf and we’re proud of all their accomplishments.”

Amongst golf instructors in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Golf Digest ranked Craig Waryan – who works at the Edinburgh USA Golf Course in Brooklyn Park – as the top teacher in the state.  Luke Benoit instructs at the Minnesota Golf Academy in Eden Prairie, and Dick Walters teaches at the Wayzata Country Club in Wayzata.  Benoit was ranked No. 6, while Walters came in at No. 12.
