Softball Team Takes Part in "Valentines for Kids" Program

Members of the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s softball team celebrated this weekend’s Valentine’s Day by participating in a 98.5 KTIS radio station ministry opportunity, “Valentine’s for Kids.” The service project sends valentines to children in hospitals undergoing treatment that are unable to attend their own school’s Valentine’s Day party.

Members of the Gustavus Adolphus College women’s softball team celebrated this weekend’s Valentine’s Day by participating in a 98.5 KTIS radio station ministry opportunity, “Valentine’s for Kids.”

The service project sends valentines to children in hospitals undergoing treatment that are unable to attend their own school’s Valentine’s Day party. The Gustie women handmade and contributed over 40 valentine cards to KTIS, which will be delivered to the Children’s Hospital of Minnesota this week.

Said senior captain Rachael Click, “We all thought this would be a great idea, so we got together in the Gustie Den (an on-campus room designed for student service activities), listened to music, and made some valentines cards. We thought it would be a great way to brighten the day of a young person who is going through a tough time.”

The Gustavus softball team returns seven starters from a team that posted a record of 30-8 last year and finished second in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a record of 18-4.

The Gusties open their season Saturday, March 14, against UW-La Crosse in the Rosemount Dome in Rosemount, Minn.
