Men’s Golf In Fourth After Opening Round Of Twin Cities Classic

Ramsey, Minn. – After day one of the 2013 Twin Cities Classic, the Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team sits in fourth place with a team-total 304 (+16).  UW-Eau Claire leads the 19-team field with a 301 (+13).  Rounding out the top three is the Milwaukee School of Engineering in second with a 302 (+14), and Saint John’s University in third with a 303 (+15).  The first round of the Twin Cities Classic was held at the Links at Northfork, a par 72 measuring 6,982 yards.

At the top of the leaderboard after the opening round stands Ben Brooks of UW-Eau Claire, Ryan Gallagher of Saint John’s, and Trent Lindenman of Simpson College.  All three players shot an even par 72 to pace the field.

Gustavus was led by Matt Jensen (Sr., Edina, Minn.) and Tyler McMorrow (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) who both fired three-over-par 75s to finish the round in 15th.

Andrew Brandt (So., Medina, Minn.) is next in line in 22nd with a four-over 76.  Andrew Oakes (Sr., Hermantown, Minn.) is in 41st with a 78 (+6), and Lee Bystrom (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.) rounds out the squad in 49th with a 79 (+7).

The second day of the Twin Cities Classic will be held on Sunday at the Elk River Golf Course in Elk River, Minn.  The round will begin at 10:45 a.m. with the Gusties teeing off 12:12 p.m.
