St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team will make the trip up to Moorhead, Minn. on Saturday when it takes on Concordia in an Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) match up. The Gusties will look to rebound from a disappointing 2-1 loss to Carleton on Wednesday that gave them their second loss of the season. As such, Gustavus enters Saturday’s match with a record of 3-2-0 (0-1-0). Meanwhile, Concordia is coming off two straight wins over UW-Eau Claire (2-1) and St. Catherine (1-0). The Cobbers bring an overall record of 4-2 into the contest. Saturday’s match is set to kick off at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
Gustavus suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Carleton on Wednesday, Sept. 18th in St. Peter. After giving up an early goal, the Gusties fought back to tie the match at 1-1 with 6:05 remaining in regulation. After it appeared the momentum had shifted, Carleton scored off a corner kick with just :34 seconds left to take the one-goal lead, which is where it would stay for the remainder of the afternoon for the final score of 2-1.
The Series
Saturday marks the 38th ever meeting between Gustavus and Concordia in women’s soccer. The Gusties hold the advantage in the all-time series with a record of 21-13-5. The last time these two teams met, Concordia came away with a 2-0 win in St. Peter on Sept. 15th of last season. The last time Gustavus defeated Concordia was ironically on Saturday, Sept. 21st of the 2002 season when the Gusties came away with a 4-1 victory in St. Peter. Since that time, Gustavus has gone 0-8-2 against the Cobbers.
Point Streak
With a goal in Wednesday’s loss, Amanda Cartony (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.) extended her point streak to four matches. After being held scoreless in the season opener, Cartony has amassed three goals and four assists for a total of 10 points over the past four matches.
