Members of the Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team competed at the MSU Open hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday. Senior Lisa Brown (Sr., Lake Crystal, Minn.) was the lone Gustie to finish in the top five as she was third in the shot put and met a NCAA Provisional Qualifying Standard with a throw of 42′ 7″. Brown is the first MIAC athlete to reach the provisional qualifying standard in the event. No team scores were kept at the meet.
In other throwing events, Lindsey Hoye (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) was 12th in the weight throw with a distance of 40′ 11.75″ followed by Megan Endreson (Fy., Lino Lakes, Minn.) in 13th (39′ 11.25″). Endreson also finished 12th (29′ 3.25″) in the shot put.
In running events, Linda Kanne (Sr., Franklin, Minn.) and Amelia Schmidt (Fy., Coon Rapids, Minn.) finished eighth and ninth in the 200 meter dash, respectively, in 29.35 and 29.45 seconds. In field events, Holly Hoffman (Fy., Prior Lake, Minn.) and Kanne cleared identical heights of 8′ 3.25″ to tie for 11th place in the pole vault.
The Gusties will next compete at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton in Northfield on Saturday, February 14.
