The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team finished second at the Gustavus Triangular with a score of 173.425 at the Lund Center Forum. The Gusties finished between Hamline University, which turned in a score of 169.800, and UW-Whitewater at 176.825. Individually, Gustavus was led by Aryn Bell, who posted a career best score of 9.350, winning the vault competition. Head Coach Kris Glidden’s squad took first place on the balance beam at 44.975, behind a career high performance from Meghan Johnson, who finished third in the event with a score of 9.300.

In addition to scoring 44.975 on the balance beam, the Gusties posted scores of 45.150 on the vault, 42.250 on floor exercise, and 41.050 on the uneven parallel bars. Top finishers in each event for Gustavus included Bell on the vault, Johnson on the balance beam, Christine Askham on the uneven bars at 8.625 (5th), and Kelsey Stafford on the floor exercise with a score of 8.900 (6th).

Individually, Christine Askham finished third in the all-around with a score of 35.050 (.825 behind Kristen Weniger of Hamline). Besides finishing fifth on the uneven bars, Askham recorded scores of 9.150 on the vault (6th), 8.950 on the balance beam (8th), and 8.325 on the floor exercise (12th).

Event winners included Gustavus’ Aryn Bell on the vault with her score of 9.350, Justine Weyer of UW-Whitewater on the uneven bars at 9.375, Katrin Finch of UW-Whitewater on the balance beam with a score of 9.375, and Kristen Weniger of Hamline on the floor exercise at 9.350. Weyer also captured the all-around title with a score of 37.050.

The Gusties will host UW-La Crosse in a dual meet on Saturday, January 24 at 2 p.m. in the Lund Center Forum.
