The Gustavus men’s swimming team opened its 2008-09 dual meet season with a 133-103 loss to Minnesota State University, Mankato in St. Peter on Friday night. Matt Stewart led Gustavus with first place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.25) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.41).
Skylar Davis and Josh Seaburg recorded the other first place finishes for the Gusties as Davis took top honors in the 500-yard freestyle (4:45.45) and Seaburg won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:22.63). Seaburg also added a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.44).
Whitaker Davis posted a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.41) and Paul Kirihara registered a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (54.72).
Dave Pearson finished third in both the 100-yard freestyle (49.64) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.75).
