St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletics Department is set take part in NCAA Division III Week with a jam-packed week of activities on campus. NCAA Division III Week celebrates the unique Division III student-athlete experience, which offers a highly competitive athletics environment, a commitment to academic excellence and time to pursue other interests.
Below is a schedule of activities the Gustavus community will be hosting in celebration of the second annual Division III Week.
Monday, April 8 – Etiquette Dinner sponsored by Northwestern Mutual: All athletes and coaches are invited to attend. Email Kari Eckheart at keckhear@gac.edu to sign up.
Tuesday, April 9 – Team Window Painting Contest: All student-athletes and teams are encouraged to participate in a window painting contest beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Paint will be provided.
Thursday, April 11 – GAME (Gustie Athletes Meet Employers): Sign up with Kari Eckheart to meet with representatives from Aerotech, ACR Homes, and Securian. A light lunch will be provided with times set for 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:00 p.m.
Friday, April 12 – Jersey Day and Dive Dance: The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be handing out candy to those students wearing a jersey throughout the day. SAAC will also host a dance in the Dive beginning at 10:00 p.m. The whole campus is encouraged to attend wearing their favorite jersey.
Saturday, April 13 – Attend a Gustie Athletic Event: Men’s tennis, women’s tennis, track and field, and baseball will all be in action on campus throughout the day. Students and fans are encouraged to support the Gusties by attending one or more of the above athletic contests.

Gustavus’s participation in Division III Week will also include a service event called Pennies For Patients. Donation cans will be placed around Lund Center, the Campus Center, and at athletic events throughout the week. SAAC is asking for loose change to help support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Pennies for Patients program. This money is used to fund blood cancer research and patient programs.
Division III is the NCAA’s largest and most diverse division, with more than 440 members, 40 conferences and 170,000 student-athletes. Division III Week is an opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution or conference to observe the impact of athletics on the campus and surrounding community, as student-athletes engage in activities focusing on academic accomplishments, athletic experience and leadership/community service/campus involvement.
