St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team took off on its tour of Europe Wednesday morning.  The Gustie women, who are 10-0-0 this season on the ice, will tour various cities in Germany and Austria over a span of nine days that include site seeing and two games.

The team left Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport on the morning of December 26th.  Due to the time difference, the team landed in Munich, Germany early Thursday morning after a short layover in Atlanta.  The trip will stretch from Wednesday through Thursday, January 3rd when they return to the States.

After a brief stop in Munich, the Gusties will travel to Salzburg, Austria on day two of the tour where they will get their first taste of Austria.  The following day features a tour of Salzburg.  Saturday, day three of the tour, is game day as the Gustie women will take on the local Salzburg team at 7:00 p.m.

The next morning, the team will travel to historic Vienna, the capital of Austria.  After a day of travel on Sunday, Monday will bring a guided tour of the city and a chance to enjoy New Years Eve in Vienna.  New Years Day serves as a leisure day for the team to explore the city before traveling to Graz the following morning.  While in Graz, the Gusties will take on the Austrian Women’s National Team at 3:00 p.m.  Following the afternoon game, the team will travel back to Munich, where they will depart for home the next morning.

The Gusties will return to regular season play on Friday, January 11th when they open a non-conference series with UW-Stevens Point at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
