Women’s Hockey Shuts Out St. Mary’s 3-0

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s hockey team shutout St. Mary’s University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. Ingrid Neve, Josefin Pettersson and Annie Katz each contributed a goal for the Gusties.

The Gustavus Adolpus women’s hockey team shutout St. Mary’s University 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties improve to 14-5-0 overall and 10-2 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals drop to 9-7-1 overall and 6-6-0 in the MIAC.

The Gusties fired 41 shots on goal Saturday afternoon. Amanda Gage recorded 38 saves for the Cardinals. Kara Meyer recorded her second shutout of the season turning away 10 shots from the Cardinals. Meyer’s record improves to 8-1-0 on the year.

Ingrid Neve scored on the power-play at 8:19 of the first period to put the Gusties into the lead. Annie Katz and Laura Stypulkowski were credited with the assist. The Cardinals held the Gusties scoreless for the next 32 minutes of the contest.

Josefin Pettersson slipped the puck past Gage at 1:39 of the third period to give the Gusties a two goal lead. Annie Katz got her third goal of the weekend at 19:57 of the third period to make the final score 3-0.

The series sweep of the Cardinals will clinch a MIAC playoff spot for the Gusties if St. Thomas defeats St. Kate’s this evening. The Gusties will travel to Moorhead, Minn. to play Concordia College next Friday and Saturday.
