The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team finished first out of five teams at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational on Saturday. Gustie Amanda Parker won three event titles including all-around, uneven bars and the balance beam.
Gustavus tallied a season high score of 181.00 to claim the UWEC Ultimate Flight Invitational. The host Blugolds finished second at 177.15 followed by UW-Oshkosh at 171.90, UW-Whitewater at 168.775 and UW-Stout at 168.750.
Amanda Parker turned in another impressive performance for Gustavus as she won the all-around title with a total of 37.225, the uneven bars with a score of 9.375 and the balance beam with a mark of 9.40. Parker also finished third on the vault with a score of 9.250 and sixth on the floor exercise with a score of 9.20.
Other top finishes by event for the Gusties included Danielle Abel placing fifth (9.125) and Alyssa Cox sixth (9.025) in the vault; Ashley Erickson placing third (9.150) and Molly McIntyre fourth (8.90) on the uneven bars; McIntyre placing third (9.325) and Caren Carlstedt sixth (9.10) on the balance beam; and Ali Legler finishing third (9.350) and Nicole Gergen fifth (9.225) on the floor exercise.
Coach Kris Glidden’s squad has improved its score in each of its three meets this season. The Gusties scored 176.475 at UW-Whitewater on January 10, followed by a total of 178.90 on January 16, before posting a mark of 181.00 at UW-Eau Claire this weekend.
