Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore thrower Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial) has been named MIAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the Week ending April 15, 2007. Brown is assured of an opportunity to defend her national championship in the javelin throw. At the Lee Krough Invitational hosted by Gustavus last Saturday, Brown uncorked a facility-record throw of 146 feet, 1 inch to automatically qualify for this May’s NCAA Division III Championships in Oshkosh, Wis. Brown also placed second in the shot put (40-0) and sixth in the discus (127-4).

Brown, a health fitness major, is the daughter of Steve and Loree Brown of Lake Crystal and a 2005 graduate of Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial High School.

The Gustavus women’s track and field team will continue its season Saturday, April 21, at the Manitou Classic in Northfield.
