Men’s Indoor Track and Field Competes at St. Olaf Tostrud Classic

The Gustavus Adolphus men’s indoor track and field team continued its season Saturday by competing in the Tostrud Classic hosted by St. Olaf College. No team scores were kept. Andy Klaers (Jr., Loretto, Minn./Delano) won the shot put (46-1/2) and the weight throw (53-5 3/4), capturing two of Gustavus’ seven event wins.

Also picking up wins for the Gusties were Jake Fourre (Fr., Rogers, Minn./Buffalo) in the 600-yard dash (1:15.38), Alex Zupan (Sr., Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) in the mile run (4:26.01), Tyler Geyen (So., Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) in the 55-meter hurdles (7.9 seconds), Drew Hood (Jr., Mankato, Minn./West) in the pole vault (14-10), and the distance medley relay (11:04.71).

Chris Ward (Sr., Mapleton, Minn./Maple River)
finished third in the 1000-meter run (2:39.58), while Dan Foley (So., Minneapolis, Minn./South) finished third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:45.20, one spot ahead of John Leaf (So., Center City, Minn./Chisago Lakes) in fourth with a time of 15:49.0.

Colin Rust (Fy., Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska)
placed fifth in the triple jump (37-8) and ninth in the long jump (17-1 1/2). Nick Davis (Fy., Litchfield, Minn.) placed third in the shot put with a heave of 42-0, while Brian Anderson (Fy., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) placed sixth in both the shot put (40-1 1/4) and the weight throw (41-10 3/4). Jordan Van Dorp placed fourth in the pole vault (12-4 1/2), while Cole Carlson finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (52.09). Dan Marti (Sr., Sleepy Eye, Minn.) placed seventh in the 55-meter dash (6.80) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (23.80).

Besides the win in the distance medley relay, Gustie relay teams placed third in both the 4×200 (1:34.38) and the 4×400 (3:27.48).

The Gusties will compete in Carleton’s Pre-MIAC Meet next Friday.
