The Gustavus women’s golf team shot a 321 (+33) and sit in second place after the first day of competition at the 2011 MIAC Women’s Golf Championships held Oct. 1-3 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.
St. Olaf is the current leader after shooting a 309 (+21). Saint Benedict rounded out the top-three in third with a 332 (+44).
Sam Falk was Gustavus’ top golfer of the day, firing a five-over-par 77 to finish in a tie for third. Taylor Drenttel also cracked the top-10 and sits in a three-way tie for sixth after shooting a 79 (+7).
Liz Strom sits in 12th place at +10 (82), while Kayleigh Dittes and Ann Jackson both shot a +11 (83) to finish in 14th.
Blazer Kathryn Hauff is the current leader at 73 (+1), while St. Olaf’s Maxine Carlson is in second at 75 (+3).
The second round will begin at 11:20 a.m. tomorrow morning. Sunday’s tee times are dictated by Saturday’s results, with groups teeing off every eight minutes. The final 18 holes will start Monday at 9 a.m., with the awards ceremony to follow the conclusion of the final round.
