Gustavus junior Tanner Miest has been named MIAC Track Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior hurdler Tanner Miest (New London, Minn.) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 9, 2006. At last weekend’s Wartburg Select Meet in Waverly, Iowa, Miest posted the best qualifying time in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries with a mark of 14.98 seconds and bettered that with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14.85 seconds to win in the final.

Miest finished second in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2006 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 7.74 seconds.

Miest, is the son of Gary and Norma Miest of Willmar and a 2003 graduate of New London-Spicer High School.
