Kelly Crandall (Jr., Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong HS) scored two power-play goals to lead Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s hockey leader Gustavus Adolphus College to a 7-0 victory over host Augsburg College on Friday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Gustavus outshot Augsburg by a 41-16 margin and scored four of its seven goals on the power play, going 4-for-5 with a player advantage in the contest.
The Gusties, ranked No. 4 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online (www.uscho.com) Division III national poll, are now 17-3-2 overall, 14-0-1 in MIAC play. Augsburg is now 7-12-3 overall, 6-6-3 in MIAC play.
Molly Doyle (So., Eagan, Minn.), Andrea Peterson (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.), Jaclyn Dufault (So., Crookston, Minn.), Brigitte Bartholdi (Fr., Cloquet, Minn.) and Jenny Pusch (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./Holy Angels HS) also scored goals for the Gusties, with Dufault and Pusch recording power-play markers.
Doyle added two assists for a three-point night. Also recording two assists for the Gusties were Stefanie Ubl (So., Blaine, Minn.), Liz Haakenson (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Abby Randall (Sr., Tonka Bay, Minn./Minnetonka HS).
Kitty Hurley (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn./Blake HS) stopped all 16 shots she faced to record her second shutout of the season.
Augsburg goalie Amanda Bockmann (So., Wind Lake, Wis./Muskego HS) made 34 saves.
Jocelyn Cookson (Sr., Edina, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) had six shots on goal for the Auggies, with Tiffany Magnuson (Fr., Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) adding four shots and Calla Lundquist (Sr., Gillette, Wyo./Campbell County HS) adding three shots.
