Gymnastics Team Posts Season High Total of 174.10 at Hamline Triangular Posted on February 17th, 2006 by

The Gustavus women’s gymnastics team scored a season high of 174.10 in finishing third out of three at Hamline University in St. Paul on Friday night. The Gusties posted season high team event totals on the uneven bars (42.225), the balance beam (43.30), and the floor exercise (43.60). UW-Eau Claire finished first with a total of 177.25 and Hamline placed second with a total of 177.15. Gustavus is now 3-3 in dual meets this season.

The Gusties posted a total of 44.975 on the vault. Danielle Berg led the team as she placed fifth with a score of 9.075. Brittany Moore finished right behind Berg in sixth with a total of 9.050. Danielle Abel placed sixth at 9.025, followed by Catherine Osterhaus at 8.95 and Emily Pickford at 8.875.

On the uneven bars, Gustavus was led by Laura Hansen who placed third with a score of 8.95. Hansen was followed by Christine Askham at 8.775, Audrey Schenewerk at 8.325, Emily Pickford at 8.10, and Kathleen Ozbun at 8.075.

On the balance beam, junior Nicole Gergen led the way with a second place finish and a score of 9.050. Other top finishers included Catherine Osterhaus in sixth at 8.85, Laura Hansen and Jaime Tsurasaki in 10th at 8.55, and Emily Pickford in 12th place at 8.30.

On the floor exercise, Christine Askham posted the team’s top finish as she placed 11th with a score of 8.9. Askham was followed by Nicole Gergen in 12th at 8.825, Brittany Moore in 13th at 8.825, Emily Pickford in 16th at 8.575, Catherine Osterhaus in 17th at 8.55, and Dana Ryerson in 18th at 8.05.

Emily Pickford finished fifth in the all-around with a score of 33.85. Pickford scored 8.575 on the floor exercise, 8.30 on the balance beam, 8.10 on the uneven parallel bars.

The Gusties will next host UW-Eau Claire in a dual meet next Friday night in Sponberg Studio at 7:00 pm.
