The Gustavus women’s cross country ran well at the 10-team All-American Invitational hosted by Luther College in Decorah, Iowa on Saturday. The Gusties recorded a score of 82 to finish behind first place Luther with 36 and second place UW-La Crosse with 50. Kate Eggers led the Gustavus contingent as she placed second individually with a time of 19:21.
Coach Dale Bahr was pleased with his team’s performance. He stated, “This group is running really well right now. Finishing 30 points behind UW-La Crosse and 46 behind Luther is encouraging as they are two of the top teams in the country.” Bahr added, “Traditionally we improve as the season progresses, while many teams peak early, so I feel good about are position right now. We need to stay healthy and close the gap with our four and five runners and we will be right in the hunt later in the season.”
Following Eggers across the finish line in the top group for Gustavus were Beth Hauer in 11th (19:37), Brooke Beskau in 16th (19:41), Kim Rostvold in 21st (19:51), Erica Hett in 32nd (20:04), Laura Secor in 38th (20:23), and Danielle Burgmeier in 42nd (20:31).
