The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team took seventh place at the 2010 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships held Friday and Saturday, May 14-15 in Winona, Minn.  The Gusties finished with a two-day point total of 64 points, scoring 44 points in day two of competition.  St. Thomas was crowned MIAC Champion after compiling 178.5 points.  Hamline finished second with 155 points, and Bethel took third with 109 points.

The Gusties registered 12 top-ten finishes in day two of competition.  Max Hanson was the star of the meet for Gustavus, registering two individual first place finishes on the afternoon.  Hanson won the 800-meter run with an NCAA Provisional time of 1:52.07, and the 3000-meter steeplechase with an NCAA Provisional time of 9:16.94.  Both of Hanson’s times are Saint Mary’s track records.

Top finishers in the track events included Cole Carlson, Matt Leeb, Matt Dvorak, and Anders Bowman.  Carlson finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.52.  Leeb took sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.30.  Dvorak placed seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.7), and Bowman took eighth in the 1500-meter run (4:04.82).

The 4×400 meter relay team of Leeb, Hanson, Colby Citrowske, and Carlson finished fourth with a time of 3:16.76.

In the field events, Brian Anderson scored a seventh place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 159’ 3”.  Three Gusties placed in the top-ten in the pole vault, as Josh Owens took sixth (14’ 2”), Carl Stenoien finished seventh (13’ 8.25”), and Jordan Van Dorp placed ninth (13’ 8.25”).
