Jens Brabbit finished 34th in the classic and 39th in the freestyle at the 2010 NCAA Skiing Championships

Gustavus Adolphus junior Jens Brabbit returned home to Minnesota after competing at the 2010 NCAA Skiing Championships held March 10-13, in Steamboat Springs, Colo.  Brabbit completed the most successful season ever had by a Gustavus male skier with a 34th place finish in the 10km classic race on Thursday, finishing with a time of 31:57.6, and a 39th place finish in the 20km freestyle on Saturday with a time of 55:09.5.  Brabbit was just the fifth athlete from Gustavus to qualify for the NCAA Skiing Championships.

The University of Colorado’s Matt Gelso claimed the men’s title in the classic with a time of 29.25, winning by over :25 seconds.  Santiago Ocariz of UW-Green Bay was the top Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) with a 13th place finish in the classic (49:44.3).  Franz Berstein of the University of Vermont won the freestyle with a time of 49:19.7, as Santiago Ocariz was once again the top CCSA skier with a tenth place finish in 49:44.3.

The University of Denver compiled 785.5 points to win the 2010 NCAA Championship for the third consecutive year.  Northern Michigan was the top CCSA team in the final standings, finishing 14th with 166 points.
