Women’s Indoor Track & Field Takes First At CSB Quad

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team compiled 166.5 points to take first place at the College of Saint Benedict Quadrangular held Saturday afternoon in Collegeville, Minn. Kaelene Lundstrum was the top Gustavus performer at the meet, winning the 55-meter hurdles (8.98) and high jump (5’ 3”), while taking fifth in the shot put (38’ 9.75”).

Saint Ben’s finished in second place with 164 points, while the University of Minnesota-Duluth placed third with 156 points, and Concordia took fourth with 103.5 points.

In the mid-distance events, Megan Lundgren placed second in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:41.77, while Natalie Ristau finished in fifth with a time of 1:44.67.  Abby Karl and Jenny Hendricks finished in second (2:21.16) and fourth (2:28.96) place, respectively, in the 800-meter run.  Laura Secor added a fourth place finish in the 1000-meter run (3:11.54).

In the distance races, Beth Hauer took first place in the 5000-meter run (18:52.66), while Brooke Beskau finished behind her in second (18:57.64).  In the 3000-meter run, Vanessa Jones placed third (11:00.68), Kim Rostvold took fourth (11:07.72), and Lauren Nelson finished fifth (11:28.41).  Rostvold added a fifth place finish in the mile with a time of 5:41.11.

Karl, Lundgren, Lundstrum, and Janey Helland teamed up to finish second in the 1600-meter relay, finishing in 4:07.07.

Gustavus had a good day in the field events, registering 10 top five finishes.  In the long jump, Sarah Baker took second (16’ 11.50”), Becca Bryson finished third (16’ 7.25”), and Janey Helland placed fourth (16’ 7”).  Bryson also finished second in the triple jump at 35’ 1”.  Allyson Voss won the pole vault, clearing 10’ 9”.  Diana Scott placed first in the weight throw with a toss of 51’ 5.50”, while Anna Bauer placed third with a throw of 48’ 6”.  Sam Broderius added a second place finish in the shot put (42’ 2.25”).

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team will compete next at Macalester College on Friday, Feb. 26, at 5:00 pm.
