Men’s Soccer Claims Important 3-0 Win Over Carleton

The Gustavus men’s soccer team remained in contention for the MIAC title with an important 3-0 win over Carleton in Northfield on Saturday. Bobby Kroog led the Gustie attack with two goals. Nate Hitch recorded the shutout in the nets for Gustavus.

The Gustavus men’s soccer team remained in contention for the MIAC title with an important 3-0 win over Carleton in Northfield on Saturday. Bobby Kroog led the Gustie attack with two goals. Nate Hitch recorded the shutout in the nets for Gustavus. The Gusties improve to 9-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the MIAC, while Carleton falls to 6-4-0 overall and 2-2-1 in the MIAC.

Gustavus claimed an early 1-0 lead in the match when Bobby Kroog took a pass from Jonathan Astry and fired it into the lower right corner of the net.

The Gusties maintained their 1-0 lead until early in the second half when defender Joe Hartwell scored giving Gustavus a 2-0 lead at the 66:21 mark. Astry recorded his second assist on the goal.

Gustavus tallied its third goal of the day when Bobby Kroog picked up a rebound off a shot by Scott Storlie slipped past the Carleton goalkeeper at the 69:34 mark.

The Gusties outshot the Knights 12-6 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Nate Hitch recorded five saves and picked up the shutout for Gustavus.
