(St. Peter, Minn. – Friday, November 15, 2002) The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) women’s soccer coaches announced their 2002 all-conference team this past week and Gustavus Adolphus players Renee Beaudry (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.), Kelly Keith (So., Minneapolis, Minn.), Lindsay Parker (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.), Cynthia Lee (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.), and Britanee Pelikan (Fy., Rosemount, Minn.) received all-conference honors. Beaudry, Keith, and Parker were named to the all-conference team while Lee and Pelikan received honorable mention.
Beaudry, a four-time all-conference selection as a midfielder, was the leading scorer on the team with 12 goals. She becomes the first player in the program’s history to be named to the all-conference team four times. Beaudry wrapped up her career as the second leading points scorer in school history with 114. She tallied 45 goals and 24 assists while in a Gustavus uniform.
Parker, who started all 17 games as a midfielder, led the squad with seven assists. She ranked second in the MIAC with four assists in conference play. Parker tallied two assists versus the College of St. Catherine and one goal and one assist in the team’s win over Hamline.
Keith started all 17 games as a defender for the Gusties. She was a key component of the Gustavus defense that allowed just 11 goals in conference play. Keith also registered an assist on the game winning goal versus St. Scholastica.
Lee, a co-captain, saw action in 12 games while battling through an injury. She ended the season with three goals, two assists, and eight points. Lee’s best game came versus Hamline when she tallied two goals and one assist.
Pelikan started the first 16 games of the season before sitting out the finale with an injury. She was second on the team with eight goals and four assists for 20 points. Pelikan scored two goals in each of the games versus St. Mary’s, St. Scholastica, and UW-La Crosse.
Gustavus finished the season with a record of 9-4-4 overall and 5-4-2 in the MIAC (fifth place). It is the 13th consecutive season that the Gusties have posted a winning record.
