Men’s Golf Finishes 18th at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men’s golf team finished 18th at the NCAA Championships held at Mission Inn Golf Club in Howie-In-The-Hills, Florida. The Gusties were led by freshman Mark Stuckey who placed 24th out of 120 competitors.

The Gustavus men’s golf team concluded its 2005 season with an 18th place finish (out of 23 teams) at the NCAA Championships which were held at Mission Inn Golf Club in Howie-In-The-Hills, Florida. After a rough first two days that saw the Gusties shoot scores of 329-317, the team settled down and shot more traditional scores of 306 and 307 the final two days to finish with a total of 1259. Guilford College won the 2005 national title with a score of 1174.

Freshman Mark Stuckey paced the Gusties with a 72-hole total of 78-75-75-77–305. Stuckey tied for 24th place out of 120 golfers. Results for the rest of the five-player team included Jon Hagedorn (90-78-77-76) and Clayton Johnson (80-85-77-79) tying for 86th place with 72 hole totals of 321, Brady Hoffman finishing 89th at 83-79-80-80–322 and Eric Tone finishing 97th at 86-86-77-75–325.

At the championship banquet on Sunday night, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced its national awards and Gustavus junior Jon Hagedorn was named to the All-American Scholar team.
