Gustavus junior Jon Hagedorn (Blue Earth, Minn.) and Saint John’s University junior Kyle Fredrickson (Eagan,Minn.) have been named Co-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week. Hagedorn posted a 36-hole total of 72-67–139 (-3) to earn individual medalist honors in the Saint John’s Univeristy Invitational. The invite took place at Monticello Country Club on Sunday, April 24. Hagedorn’s score of 67 on the second day is his lowest 18-hole total of the season and helped the Gusties to a first place tie with University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. The Gusties won the tie-breaker against the Blugolds with a lower fifth-man score to claim their second tournament title of the spring season.
Gustavus will now wait to see it is selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Championships. The Gusties are the defending national champions and are in search of their 21st consecutive NCAA tournament appearance in school history. The championships will take place May 9-12 at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
