Softball Team Set to Play at Sun West Softball Tournament in California

The Gustavus softball team will travel to Orange, California over spring break to play in the eighth annual Sun West Softball Tournament hosted by Champan University. The Gusties will play eight games in six days at the tournament.

The Gustavus softball team will travel to Orange, California over spring break to play in the eighth annual Sun West Softball Tournament hosted by Chapman University. The tournament began on February 28 and will last 30 days featuring some of the nation’s top small-college women’s softball programs. Fifty-five teams will participate in the month-long tournament playing in over 200 games.

The Gusties will play eight games in six days at the Sun West Tournament. Head Coach Shanda Ness’ squad will open the tournament on Saturday, March 26 with a doubleheader against Tufts Univeristy (Mass.) and Cornell College (Iowa). Other opponents that Gustavus will face include Simon Fraser (British Columbia), Briar Cliff University (Iowa), Hope International University (Calif.), Chapman University (Calif.) and Azusa Pacific University (Calif.).

Gustavus opened its 2005 season with three doubleheader splits at the Dome Tournament in Rosemount, Minn. March 11-13. The Gusties split with UW-Eau Claire, Buena Vista University and Loras College.
