Women’s Indoor Track & Field in Fifth Place After Day One at the MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field team is in fifth place with 44 points after day one of the MIAC Indoor Track and Field championships. The championship meet will conclude on Saturday.

The Gustavus women’s indoor track and field is in fifth place with 44 points after day one of the MIAC Indoor Track and Field championships. The conference meet is being hosted by Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

The Gusties recorded seven top five finishes in the first day of competition at the conference championships. Junior Blythe Bittman finished fifth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.54. Junior Ashley Cronen recorded a time of 59.44 to place second in the 400-meter dash.

Gustavus had two student-athletets finish in the top five of the 600-meter dash. Senior Ali Cordie placed second and sophomore Krista Cruse placed fifth with times of 1:37.96 and 1:39.14, respectively.

In the 5,000-meter run, junior Kourtney Joyce placed fourth with a time of 18:11.26. In the distance medley, the team of Ashley Farbo, Blythe Bittman, Heidi Bulfer and Lydia Davitt recorded a time of 12:57.11 to place fifth. In the weight throw, senior Josie Thulien placed fifth with a distance of 44-11 3/4.

The championship meet will conclude on Saturday. The day’s events start at 10:00am with the final race being scheduled for 2:20pm.
