HASTINGS, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team hosted the Gustie Spring Invite on Saturday at Emerald Greens and finished in third place with a score of 324 (+24). Laurel Ward (Sr., Bozeman, Mont.) earned medalist honors with a two-over par 74. Sunday’s second round was cancelled due to the weather.
Ward’s round featured three birdies and five bogies. Annika Reierson (Jr., Delano) had a top-10 finish, tying for 10th with a 79. Hannah Hubbart (Sr., Hastings) took 24th with an 83, Emily Kolb (Fy., Sioux Falls, S.D.) finished tied for 37th with an 88, and Lauren Hubbart (Fy., Hastings) rounded out the lineup with a 94 for 56th place.
“Always good to be back competing with the squad,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “Tough conditions today, but pleased with how we clawed our way back towards the top of the leaderboard. We certainly have some things to work on, mainly minimizing the damage on missed shots and opportunities. But pleased with how we started. Awesome tournament for Laurel as she captured her first victory. There were some very talented players and to see her capture the win was great to see as she worked so hard on her putting in the offseason. To see the confidence today was fantastic. Can’t wait to compete next weekend.”
The Gusties compete in the Bethel Spring Invite next Saturday and Sunday in White Bear Lake.
