NORTHFIELD, Minn. — After scoring just one goal in Friday night’s game against St. Olaf, the Gusties were led to a 6-1 victory by Hailey Holland (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.), who picked up a hat trick in the Saturday rematch. With their win over St. Olaf, the Gusties improve to 22-3-0 and end the regular season with a conference record of 17-1-0.

Holland started the scoring just as Brooke Power (Jr., Lakeville) had done the night before, scoring the first of the game more than halfway through the first period on an unassisted tally. Holland’s goal held through the end of the first, giving the Gusties the lead at the intermission. Holland picked up right where she left off in the last period, scoring two minutes into the second for her second of the night. She completed the hatty with another unassisted tally, helping the Gusties close out the second period with a 3-0 advantage.

The third period saw four more goals, including one from the Oles to foil Katie McCoy’s (Sr., Grafton, Wis.) shutout effort. Power and Tina Press (Sr., Cottage Grove) added goals just two minutes apart from each other to start the third, before St. Olaf added one of their own. Kaitlyn Holland (So., Aberdeen S.D.) responded, though, tipping a pass from Lily Mortenson (Fy., Champlin) into the top left corner for a 6-1 Gustie lead.

Holland finished the game with the lead in points at three thanks to her hat trick, and was followed by Emily Olson (Sr., Delano) and Hannah Gray (So., Stillwater) who added two points each on assists, and two from Power on a goal and a helper. McCoy picked up the win between the pipes, making 12 saves on the 13 shots she faced, while Meghan Gibb (Fy., Isanti) debuted in her first collegiate career game, making one save as relief for McCoy in the third.

The Gusties will host the winner of the MIAC Quarterfinal to be determined next Thursday in a MIAC Playoff Semifinal match on Saturday the 25th in Saint Peter.
