SAINT PETER, Minn. — The Gustavus women’s basketball team won its third straight game, and third straight MIAC matchup, defeating Augsburg 60-39 Saturday afternoon. The Gusties improve to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the MIAC.

The Auggies took the lead early in the first quarter, but the Gusties took over at 10-9 and never looked back. A 12-point scoring run gave the Gusties a 27-12 lead over the Auggies in the second quarter, thanks to eight points from Emma Kniefel (Jr., Medford). The Gusties kept their foot on the accelerator, heading into the locker room after the first two frames leading 31-16.

The Auggies put up 10 points in the third to bring the lead difference within 13, but they couldn’t slow down the Gustie offense. Kylie Baranick (So., Maple Grove) tallied five third quarter points, keeping the scoring at 10-10 through the third. The Gusties padded their lead by 19 in the fourth, finishing the game with an 21-point lead, 60-39.
