SARTELL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team took eighth place out of 13 teams at the Saint Benedict Invite on Sunday. The Gusties carded a 348-333-681 (+45) at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course. Carleton won the competition with a 623.
Emily Kolb (Fy., Sioux Falls, S.D.) led the Gusties after posting a four-over 76 Sunday, improving her first round score by 10 strokes for a total of 162 and tying for 16th. Laurel Ward (Sr., Bozeman, Mont.) took 27th and improved on her first round score as well with an 86-84-170. Annika Reierson (Jr., Delano) was consistent with a round of 86 both days, tying for 31st. Kristin Martens (Sr., Sartell) tied for 47th with a 90-87-177 and Hannah Hubbart (Sr., Hastings) took 73rd at 92-99-191.
“A little better today, we still have some things to clean up on our short game,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “Nice to see Emily post a great round in her first tournament, very solid. After qualifying and our first tournament, it will be really nice to settle down and get in some practice before next weekend’s event at Wartburg.”
The Gusties next compete Saturday and Sunday at the Wartburg Invitational.
