WAVERLY, Iowa – The Gustavus women’s track & field team sent four individuals to compete at the Wartburg Qualifier on Saturday and came away with some impressive performances.

The 4×400 relay team of Elizabeth Donnelly, Makenna Huetten, Megan Geraets, and Birgen Nelson set the school record with a time of 3:55.24. They had splits of 59.39, 1:01.44, 56.98, and 57.42, finishing in seventh place.

Nelson also ran an 8.70 in the 60-hurdles prelims and then took third in the finals with a time of 8.76.

I am incredibly proud of them today,” Head Coach Aaron Lund said. “All seven teams ahead of us [in the 4×400] are some of the best teams in the country and will contend for the national title. As freshmen, Makenna and Megan have stepped up in a major way and are building so much confidence with every meet. Birgen and Elizabeth have championship level experience and have done a great job leading this team.”
