Five Gusties Selected to NCAA Division III Swim & Dive Championships, Three to Regional Diving

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA announced its selections for the 2022 Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships and five Gustavus student-athletes have qualified.

Andrew Becker (Jr., Northfield) will represent the Gustie men and will compete in the 100 freestyle with a seed time of 44.66. Becker is the only male swimmer from the MIAC to be selected to the NCAA Championships.

Representing the Gustie women at the national meet are Ellen Hofstede (Jr., Hopkins), Marit Isaacson (Fy., Saint Paul), Lucy Peterson (So., Saint Paul), and Abigail Yartz (Jr., Bemidji). All four will compete in the 200 free relay (1:33.56) and 400 free relay (3:27.81). Hofstede will also race the 50 free (23.21) and 100 free (50.10).

Franklin College and Indiana Sports Corp are the hosts of the NCAA Championships at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis. The meet takes place over four days from March 16-19.

The NCAA also released the qualified divers for the Division III regional meets and three Gustie women will compete in Region 1 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Friday and Saturday –  Emily An (Sr., Bozeman, Mont.), Emmalyn Dickerson (So., New Prague), and Kaija Pratt (So., Minnetonka).
