103 Gusties Named MIAC Fall 2021 Academic All-Conference
Student-athletes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) continue to achieve in both athletics and in the classroom. On Wednesday, the MIAC announced its Academic All-Conference honorees for the 2021-22 fall semester, which included 103 Gustavus student-athletes.
Novak Named D3baseball.com Preseason All-America
Bryce Novak (Jr., Cleveland) of Gustavus baseball has been selected to the D3baseball.com 2022 Preseason All-America Second Team.
Three Goals in 30 Seconds Lifts Men’s Hockey 5-4 in OT
SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus men's hockey team hosted its first home game of 2022 and took a 5-4 overtime win against St. Olaf after a third period scoring frenzy. The three goals in thirty seconds was an impressive feat for fans on Tuesday night, but fell short to the 3 goal sequence record that happened in just 19 seconds when the Gusties played the Oles on Dec. 7th, 1977.
Poe Named MIAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Annika Poe (Jr., Big Lake) finished third in the shot put at the Minnesota State Invitational last Friday with a toss of 13.03 meters. That distance is good for fourth-best in all of NCAA Division III this season. For her performance, Poe has been selected MIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
Becker Named MIAC Men’s Swim Athlete of the Week
Andrew Becker (Jr., Northfield) won three events for the Gusties in a dual meet victory over Carleton last weekend. Becker clocked in at 21.43 to win the 50 free and 47.39 to win the 100 free. He was also part of the victorious 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:36.82. For his performance, Becker has been named MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week.
Olson Named MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week
Emily Olson (Jr., Delano) had a seven-point series as the Gusties swept St. Olaf to remain undefeated in conference play. Olson tallied a goal and three assists in a 7-0 win in Northfield on Jan. 14 and followed that performance with a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win in Saint Peter on Jan. 15.
Men’s Hockey Downed 3-1 At UW-Superior
SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Gustavus men's hockey team played its final non-conference game of the season when they traveled to UW-Superior on Saturday night. The Gusties suffered a 3-1 loss and move to 3-8-1 overall and remain 0-3-1 in the MIAC.
Men’s Basketball Picks Up 83-74 Victory Over St. Scholastica
DULUTH, Minn. - The Gustavus men's basketball team evened its conference record when they traveled to Duluth on Saturday to face off against St. Scholastica for the first time as a MIAC opponent. Gustavus took an 83-74 victory and improves to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
Women’s Hockey Completes Sweep Over St. Olaf, Carroll Gets 450th Win
The No. 6-ranked Gustavus women's hockey team completed the series sweep over St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 win at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The decision gave Head Coach Mike Carroll his 450th career victory, which is the second most all time in NCAA Division III women's hockey.
Another Strong Second Half Lifts Women’s Hoops Over St. Scholastica
In what has become a trend lately, the Gustavus women's basketball team used strong play in the second half to pick up a 77-53 win over St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties improve to 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the MIAC.
