SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s tennis team won 5-3 over the Bethel Royals in the MIAC Semifinal on Friday. The Gusties improve to 16-1 and will face the winner of St. Thomas and St. Olaf on Saturday.

“It was a great win for the girls today against a very tough Bethel team,” said Head Coach Jon Carlson “We knew it was gonna be a dogfight to the end. I couldn’t be more proud of any team I’ve ever coached as I am of them today.”

The Gusties were set back after losing two of their doubles matches. Rachel Lindrud (Jr., North Oaks) and Alli Laux (Fy., Onalaska Wis.) won early at Nos. 6 and 5, respectively, to give the Gusties a 3-2 advantage in the match. Sydney Douglas (Jr., North Mankato) finished third at No 4, defeating her opponent 7-6, 6-2.
