Women’s Track and Field Finds Success at Saint Ben’s Posted on March 6th, 2021 by

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track team concluded their indoor season at Saint Benedict’s. 

RESULTS

Birgen Nelson (So., Edina) lit the fire for the Gusties with a winning time of 8.76 in the 60m hurdles. Nelson also found success in the 400m recording a time of 59.39. Elizabeth Donnelly (So., Langely, Wash.) and Sara Moen (Sr., Blaine) had a clean sweep to take first and second place in the 800m with marks of 2:23.79 and 2:26.81.

On field events, Madi Kes (Fy., Jordan) continued to be a stand out for the team with a 5.18 in long jump, finishing first in the conference. Kes would also lead the pack in triple jump (11.05), followed by Madeline McDermott (Sr., St. Paul) (10.89), DeAnna Giles (Sr., Wayzata) (10.79), and Paige Patterson (Sr., Red Wing) (10.76).

Doris-Klein Mor (Jr., St. Peter) finished first in pole vault (3.35) and Annika Poe (So., Big Lake) had a 13.50 toss to win in shot put. 

“The jumpers as a whole competed extremely well all season,” said Assistant Track Coach Billy Visto, “We have had multiple jumpers in the top 50 in the nation for DIII. All 4 of our women’s triple jumpers have consistently been throwing out nationally ranked jumps. Not to mention how highly ranked they all are in the MIAC. Extremely happy with how the season went and extremely proud of all of them.”
