Women’s Track and Field Sits in Fifth After First Day of MIAC Indoor Championships

The Gustavus women’s track and field team started up competition at the MIAC Indoor Championships Friday and are currently fifth of 12 teams.

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s track and field team started up competition at the MIAC Indoor Championships Friday and are currently fifth of 12 teams.

“I am very proud of the way we competed,” said Head Coach Aaron Lund. “We fought very hard for every point today. Our team stood out because of our fight, desire to succeed and our team spirit. Lead by conference champions, All-Conference honors, and many personal bests, we are ahead of our day one projections and in a great spot heading into the final day of competition. We are excited and ready to take advantage of the opportunity tomorrow.”

Birgen Nelson and Tierney Winter highlighted the day for the Gusties, each earning all-conference honors with Winter claiming a conference title, while the distance medley relay team also earned the honor with a first place finish.
