Women’s Basketball Closes Out Regular Season at Augsburg Saturday

The Gustavus women’s basketball team will close out its regular season Saturday in a 3 p.m. matchup with Augsburg in Minneapolis. Both teams have punched their ticket to the MIAC playoffs with the Gusties entering the contest 17-7 overall and 13-6 in the MIAC, while they Auggies are 20-4 overall and 16-3 in the conference.

The Series: Saturday’s contest marks the 74th all-time matchup between the two teams with the Gusties holding the series lead 61-12. The two teams met earlier this season on Jan. 19 with the Gusties taking a 75-64 win.

Augsburg has been solid in the ball control category, averaging 12.7 steals which ranks second in the league, while turning the ball over a league-low 13.1 times per game. Tamira McLemore leads Augsburg averaging 15.6 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 3.0 steals. Camryn Speese has been a strong presence inside for the Auggies, averaing 13.0 points and addds a team-best 6.1 boards.
