SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team is set for a weekend series against Bethel with huge playoff implications on the line. Friday’s contest will begin at 7:05 in Saint Peter while Saturday’s game will be at 7 p.m. in Blaine. The Gusties enter 10-10-3 overall and 6-6-2 in the MIAC, while the Royals are 6-13-4 overall and 5-5-4 in the league. Gustavus currently sits fourth in the conference with 22 points, while Bethel is in fifth with 20. The playoff race is tight, as St. Thomas and the Gusties are tied for fourth, and are just two points apart from Bethel and St. Mary’s in fifth.

Gustavus Game Notes 

Senior Day: As is tradition at Gustavus, the final game of the regular season is designated as Senior Day and a special tribute is made to the individuals who have dedicated themselves to the Gustavus men’s hockey program over the last four years. This year, the Athletic Department, coaching staff, parents, and fans salute the three senior who have represented Gustavus with pride and class throughout their careers. The 2020 seniors include Jared Bromberg (Rochester), Reid Brown (Superior, Colo.), Kegan Couture (Pequot Lakes),  Axel Hallin (Hovas, Sweden), Chris Kanamine (Cumming, Ga.), and Casey Rock (Savage)

The Series: Friday’s contest marks the 88th all-time contest between the Gusties and Bethel with Gustavus leading the all-time series 60-26-1. The two teams last met on Dec. 1, 2018 with Gustavus taking a 5-4 victory. The Gusties have won seven out of the last ten contests.

Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus is most recently coming off of a pair of losses from Saint John’s. Through 21 games, Caleb Anderson continues to lead the Gusties with 29 points from 15 goals and 14 assists, with his total goals and points leading the MIAC. Connor Clemons adds 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists while Nick Klishko has 14 points with six goals and eight assists. The Gusties are second in the MIAC in power play percentage with a mark of 23.6 percentage and third in goals per game average with, 3.04. Robbie Goor has made 18 starts in net with a .908 save percentage and is ranked third in the MIAC with a goals against average of 2.49.

Scouting the Royals: Bethel is coming out of bye week after they took a series split against St. Olaf. Through 23 games the Royals are seventh in power-play percentage with a mark of 14.1 percent and are eighth in goals per games with 2.09. Jarrett Cammarata leads Bethel with 15 points from five goals and ten assists. Josiah Roen has 13 points on ten goals and three assists while Nick Ketola has 12 points with six goals and six assists. Ridge Gerads has made 13 starts in net for the Royals with a .926 save percentage.
