WINONA, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s tennis team opened its season Sunday and defeated Saint Mary’s 9-0 in an MIAC contest.

“Great start to the spring season against a very good Saint Mary’s team,” said Head Coach Jon Carlson. ” I thought we competed well and learned a lot about what we need to work on as we move forward.”

  3. Anna Stutz (GACW) def. Kennedy Morgan (SMU) 6-2, 6-2
  4. Sydney Douglas (GACW) def. Maggie Frye (SMU) 6-2, 7-5
  5. Rachel Lindrud (GACW) def. Kailee Johnson (SMU) 6-1, 7-5
  6. Emily Norman (GACW) def. Zoie Becker (SMU) 6-0, 6-2

Doubles

  1. Valentine/Potockova (GACW) def. Lois/Barr (SMU) 8-1
  2. Hannah Borgh/Douglas (GACW) def. Morgan/Johnson (SMU) 8-6
  3. Stutz/Norman (GACW) def. Frye/Becker (SMU) 8-1

The Gusties will next be in action on Saturday when they travel to Northern Iowa for a 4 p.m. contest.
