MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Gustavus gymnastics team competed at UW-Stout on Thursday night and scored 173.800 in a WIAC dual meet loss to UW-Stout. The Blue Devils, who are ranked fifth in the country, scored 187.125.

“It was a tough night but we knew going in it was going to be a battle as we have some illness and injuries we are working through,” said Head Coach Aryn DeGrood. “We got the chance to get people in the line-up that haven’t had that chance before and that’s always good. A lot of the positives we’re taking away are things you can’t see on the score sheet and don’t reflect in the results.”

The Gusties scored 45.350 on vault and 43.000 on beam, while notching 45.350 on floor and 40.100 on bars.

Emma Esteb (Fy., Woodbury) had a solid day for Gustavus, leading the team in vault and beam with scores of 9.225 and 9.275, respectively. Leah Heilig (Sr., Forest Lake) starred on the floor for the Gusties, tallying a 9.425, while Annie Corbett (Fy., Brookfield, Wis.) led Gustavus on the bars with a 9.100.

Gustavus will next be in action Sunday when they travel to Lindenwood.
