SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team suffered a 3-2 loss against Concordia on Friday. With the loss the Gusties fall to 9-8-3 overall and 5-4-2 in the conference while the Cobbers move to 10-8-2 overall and 7-3-1 in the MIAC.

Concordia dominated possession early, notching a goal halfway through the first period. They would add to their lead late in the first to take a 2-0 lead as they held Gustavus scoreless in the opening frame.

Gustavus played a much better all-around period in the second, holding Concordia to just eight shots in the middle frame. After a penalty by the Cobbers, Caleb Anderson (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) made them pay with a power play goal assisted by Connor Clemons (So., Savage) to cut the deficit in half. Concordia would hang tough late in the second, claiming a one-goal lead heading to the final period.

After battling it out in the third period the Gusties were able to once again take advantage of a power play with a goal from Logan Norman (Jr., Luverne) assisted by Mason Etter (Jr., Grafton, Wis.) and Anderson. With under two minutes to play, Concordia would catch a break. The Cobbers would be the beneficiary of a no-call when Robbie Goor (Jr., Anoka) was knocked down in net and Concordia had a tap-in goal for the 3-2 victory.

Goor started in net and made 32 saves while allowing 3 goals in the loss.

The teams will be back in action tomorrow for the second part of the series as they meet for a 2 p.m. contest in Saint Peter.
