SAINT PETER, Minn. – After a series split with Hamline last weekend, Gustavus men’s hockey is set to take on Concordia in back-to-back home games this weekend. Friday’s game in Saint Peter begins at 7:05 p.m. while Saturday’s game starts at 2 p.m. The Gusties enter the series 9-7-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the MIAC while the Cobbers are 9-8-2 and 6-3-1 in the conference.
The Series: Friday’s contest marks the 126th meeting between Gustavus and Concordia with the Gusties leading the series 85-33-7. The last time the two teams met on Feb. 14, 2019 the Cobbers shut out the Gusties 1-0 in Moorhead.
Scouting the Gusties: Through 19 games, Caleb Anderson continues to lead the Gusties with 25 points from 13 goals and 12 assists. Anderson also leads the MIAC in goals and points, recently earning MIAC Men’s Hockey Athlete of the Week honors. Connor Clemons has 18 points with seven goals and 11 assists while Nick Klishko has 13 points with five goals and eight assists. The Gusties currently rank second in the MIAC in goals per game and goals allowed with marks of 3.16 and 2.18, respectively. Robbie Goor has made 14 starts in net with a .923 save percentage for the Gusties and is ranked second in the MIAC with a goals against average of 2.05.
Scouting the Cobbers: Concordia is coming off of a sweep last weekend against Bethel. Through 19 games the Cobbers are sixth in the MIAC in goals per game with 2.42, while they allow 2.70 which ranks fourth. Tyler Bossert leads Concordia with 22 points from five goals and 17 assists, while Aaron Herdt has 16 points on 10 goals and six assists and Jacen Bracko adds nine points with five goals and four assists. Jacob Stephan has made 11 starts in net for the Cobbers with a .902 save percentage.
