Six Gusties Named MIAC Football First Team All-Conference

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its football postseason awards Tuesday and six Gustavus student-athletes were named First Team All-Conference – Brayton Finch (Sr., Mount Morris, Ill.), Zach Jakes (So., Mankato), Josh Kirk (Sr., Garvin), Brice Panning (Sr., Hamburg),  Kaleb Scott (Jr., Gardena, Calif.), and Michael Veldman (Sr., Becker). 

Hofstede, Small Selected as MIAC Swimmers of the Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Tuesday announced its Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week and Gustavus earned both awards. Erik Small (Fy., Hudson, Wis) is this week's Men's Athlete of the Week and Ellen Hofstede (Fy., Hopkins) is the Women's Athlete of the Week. 

Women’s Hockey at UW-Superior Tuesday Postponed

Due to the forecasted weather, the No. 4 Gustavus women's hockey game Tuesday at UW-Superior is postponed. A makeup date will be announced soon. The Gusties are next in action Friday, Dec. 6 at Saint Mary's. 

Tuesday’s Home Basketball Doubleheader vs. Concordia Postponed

Due to the forecasted snowfall and adverse driving conditions, Tuesday night's home Gustavus men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Concordia is postponed to Saturday, Dec. 14. The men's game will start at 1 p.m. and the women will follow at 3 p.m. 

Dobson Earns MIAC Elite 22 Award

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) recognized some of its best and brightest fall sport student-athletes on Monday with the announcement of the fall sports Elite 22 Awards. Gustavus was represented as Trace Dobson (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) received the men's soccer Elite 22 Award.

Goor Named MIAC Men’s Hockey Athlete of the Week

Robbie Goor (Jr., Anoka) minded the net in both games over the weekend as the Gustavus men's hockey team split a series with Augsburg. Goor is the first Gustavus men’s hockey player to earn MIAC Athlete of the Week since goalie John McLean won the weekly honor on Feb. 16, 2015.

Men’s Hockey Upsets No. 7 Augsburg 2-1

The Gustavus men's hockey team battled back from a 1-0 deficit Saturday night to upset No. 7 Augsburg 2-1. With the win the Gusties improve to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC while the Auggies fall to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Swim & Dive Convincingly Wins Grace Goblirsch Invite

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swim & dive teams both handily won the Grace Goblirsch Invite on Saturday at Vic Gustafson Pool. The women totaled 1,743 points while the men tallied 1,507 points.

Women’s Basketball Tops Macalester 85-55

The Gustavus women's basketball team built themselves a first half lead and continued to expand on it as it defeated Macalester 85-55 Saturday in its MIAC opener. With the win the Gusties improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC while the Scots fall to 0-4 and 0-1 in league play.

Women’s Hockey Completes Sweep, Blanks Augsburg 1-0

No. 6 Gustavus women’s hockey completed the series sweep over Augsburg with a 1-0 win Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Gusties remain undefeated at 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the MIAC, while the Auggies fall to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the league.
