SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team hosts Northwestern-St. Paul at 4 p.m. Monday in non-conference action. The Gusties enter the contest 1-5 overall and the Eagles are 1-6.

The Series: Today’s game marks the second meeting between Gustavus and Northwestern-St. Paul with the Gusties leading the series 1-0. Last season the Gusties beat the Eagles 2-1 on Sept. 13. Katie Ashpole (Jr., Chaska) scored in the 17th minute and Rachel Rehnelt (So., Albert Lea) scored the game-winner with 30 seconds remaining in the first half. Anna Welch scored the lone Eagles goal with eight minutes left in the game.

Scouting the Gusties: Gustavus won its first game of the season Saturday 2-1 over Saint Mary’s. Katie Ashpole scored both goals in the victory. Ashpole leads the team in scoring after six games with three goals and an assist for seven points. Ashley Becker (Sr., Farmington) has started all six games in net with a 2.42 goals against average and a .702 save percentage.

Scouting the Eagles: Northwestern most recently lost 5-0 at Augsburg on Friday. The Eagles’ lone victory of the year was an 8-0 decision over Crown last Tuesday. Anna Welch leads the offense with five points on two goals and an assist. Emily Daubenmier, Emily Currie, and Riley Bauer have two goals apiece. Ellie Fryer and Leah Brewer have split time in goal. Fryer has a 2.80 goals against average and .583 save percentage in 321 minutes, while Brewer boasts a 4.67 goals against average and .500 save percentage in 308 minutes.
