SARTELL, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s golf team is tied for fourth place after day one at the Saint Benedict Invite, carding a 333 at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course.
“We came out very nervous and hesitant,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “We will do a better job tomorrow of sticking with our game plan and being more confident from the start and trusting everything we have done in preparation for this event. I look forward to seeing how we respond on day two.”
Erin Erickson (So., Onalaska, Wis.) posted a 77 and sits in third place, which is three strokes off the leader Alyssa Akiyama of Carleton. Emily Kratz (So., Edina, Minn.) is tied for fifth with a 79. Laurel Ward (Fy., Bozeman, Mt.) carded an 88, Sydney Regalado (So., Rosemount, Minn.) shot an 89, and Lanie Altmann (Sr., Olivia, Minn.) posted an 89.
“Erin had a great round today, and Emily rallied for a good back nine,” Moe said. “I look forward to when this group puts together four good scores, we will be tough.”
The two-day event wraps up tomorrow. Bethel currently leads at 319 and Carleton is in second at 328.
