NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its annual academic awards Thursday and both the Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field programs have been named All-Academic Teams. Additionally, Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) and Steven Orzolek (Fy., Darwin, Minn.) earned All-Academic status as an individual on the men’s side, while Josie Blake (So., Waukegan, Ill.), Katie Keelin (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.), Sara Moen (So., Blaine, Minn.), Annalee Olson-Sola (Fy., Northfield, Minn.), Abigail Schnabel (Sr., Hamburg, Minn.), and Bailey Van Den Heuvel (Sr., Mondovi, Wis.) were awarded the honor on the women’s side.
In order to qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA. The Gustie men tallied a 3.33 GPA, while the women posted a 3.46.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
- Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
