SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 32 Gustavus women’s tennis team is in action Friday as it begins the MIAC playoffs. The Gusties, who enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed, will host No. 38 Bethel at 3:30 p.m. at Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex.
The Gusties lineup has fluctuated throughout the season but seemed to settle in over the last few weeks. The projected lineup for Friday will be Bri Hartmann (Sr., Owatonna, Minn.) at No. 1 singles, where she has a 14-7 record on the year. At No. 2 singles, Ginger Valentine (So., Delano, Minn.) has amassed a record of 14-6, while Lilly Hartman (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is 11-9 at No. 3. At No. 4 singles, Simona Potockova (Fy., Nova’ Dubnica, Slovakia) is 10-8 with Anna Stutz (Fy., Dellwood, Minn.) compiling a 12-5 record at the No. 5 spot. Ally Thorsen (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) rounds out the singles play for Gustavus at No. 6 where she is 3-4 on the year.
In doubles, the pairing of Bri Hartmann and Valentine have been rolling at No. 1 singles, winning all seven of their matches together. At No. 2, Potockova and Hannah Borgh (So., Bettendorf, Iowa) are 10-7, while Lilly Hartmann and Stutz round out the doubles play with a 6-1 record at No. 3.
